I leave behind my 24th year in the world and my 3rd month in Estonia with my loving friends and say ”Tere!” to a new year. I have made it my first duty to learn something every year, to embark on new adventures, to constantly change where I am. When I look back at the years I left behind, I saw that despite my young age and all the impossibilities, I achieved many things and walked with victory cries from all the wars I believed in myself. I read it somewhere, I don’t remember exactly where, but an article written there impressed me a lot; “Sometimes we have to look back to see the most beautiful view.” This is something I do every new year. I turn and look behind me. What have I accomplished? What did I learn from? What am I still dealing with? What should I do now? I can find the answers to all these questions like, by stopping and looking at the scenery behind me.
In the first week of January, when the weather conditions I experienced for the first time in my life (to our luck) were -20 degrees, we went on a swamp walk with the youth center staff and young people. It was a freezing and very enjoyable journey for me. Another philosophical expression came to my mind from here 🙂 “We all live in a swamp, but some of us look at the stars.” While swamps do not attract attention in my country, it seems to be a nature sport where you can have a good time. In fact, it is a very good example of how we evaluate the possibilities at hand. After a long walk, we ended our walk with hot and delicious Estonian snacks.
Moving towards the middle of January, I attended the Alice in Wonderland concept light festival held in Tallinn with another volunteer friend of mine working in Tallinn. To tell the truth, it didn’t meet my expectations, but it was a nice rest and travel for me. I can say that I spent January in two different extremes in this way. Intertwined with nature and among Soviet structures. As I finish my narration this month, I would like to share a Turkish song with you. The song is called “I’m on a long and narrow road“. In these words, the road is used symbolically in the meaning of the world/life. “A born person continues to pursue a goal throughout his life.”
English of the lyrics;
”I’m on a long and thin road
I’m going night and day
i don’t know how i am
I’m going night and day
I’m on a long and thin road
I’m going night and day
i don’t know how i am
I’m going day and night
Day and night
Day and night
Day and night, when i was born
I also walked
In a two-door inn
I’m going night and day
Day and night
Day and night
Day and night,
If you think deeply
When you see it far
The way is a minute, by the amount
I’m going night and day
Day and night
Day and night
Day and night”
